Chief Mark Smith is a 24-year member of the Clayton Police Department. He was appointed as the Chief of Police in April of 2020. During his career, he has served as a patrolman, detective, patrol sergeant, platoon commander, and commander of the Criminal Investigations Division and Support Bureau. He was a member of the Mobile Response Team and the Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad. Chief Smith has earned both his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO. He is also a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy, 260th Session.
